Icoanei Building
Bucharest, Romania
The Icoanei Gardens project is being developed at the very heart of Bucharest, in front of the emblematic Gradina Icoanei (The Icon Garden).
Given its location, the project is to become one of the city´s landmarks, a personal commitment of the developer, Mantor, in their aim to become an icon in Bucharest’s luxury residential segment. To this end, they have relied on Bueso-Inchausti & Rein Architects, a firm of international renown and a reference in the sector, based in Madrid and Bucharest.
The project faces a double challenge: firstly, because of its location, surrounded by monuments of great historical and cultural value; and secondly, because of the enormous protection and control of developments in the area, which require the approval of the Heritage and Urban Planning Commission.
The name, Icoanei Gardens, highlights the privileged location of the new building between two gardens: Icoanei Garden and the large private garden designed for the project. These two gardens will be connected by a spectacular atrium of more than 10 meters in height in which a dialogue will be established between the architectural proposal and the protected building that must be preserved.
